Mouginoises is a local resource and social group in the South East of France.

Founded in 2021, it is the go to for a small but mighty group of (mostly) foreigners who all in the same boat of being away from their origninal home, help each other navigate life in France.

The Mouginoises Manifesto.

Who we are

Mouginoises is an anglophone group of mostly non-French individuals who share resources, recommendations and experiences around navigating life in France.

We have two rules to keep our integrity and transparency around our true recommendations: be kind and helpful, and no promotion. We hold a safe space to ask vulnerable, maybe obvious questions and only be met with helpfulness and kindness. With a promotion free space the recommendations are real and we avoid spam and members who are there to take rather than share.

For years it has been the go to place for its members to find support, recommendations and help navigating life in France. A space as rare as it is valuable.

We have online spaces and in person meet ups exclusive to the group in the form of social events, workshops and learning opportunities.

Core values

We are kind. We are helpful

We are anti fascist, anti racist, pro equality.

We do not tolerate discrimination or bullying of any kind, towards anyone.

We are anti imperial, pro solidarity.

We embrace the French motto Liberté, égalité, fraternité.

We embrace different currencies including social, time, being of service, community and barter economies. Being kind and helpful weighs heavily in our community, a helpful person in our group gives status.

Vision

When we started as a group it was an eclectic collection of friends and acquaintances who helped each other out by sharing resources. As we have grown we carefully protect that intimacy, the vision is to be able to scale the group with our values intact and that requires a commitment to adhere to our two rules.

Goals

We want to be able to continue being a safe space to ask any question navigating life in France, whether it’s what to do when your dog has licked processionary caterpillars, how to renew your visa or finding a reliable plumber on a weekend. We want to be that rare place with real, genuine recommendations that is free of spam and irrelevance.
